Tonight South Carolina State University will host the first Democratic Presidential debate. Several key candidates will be in attendance. This debate is key to South Carolina politics and may catapult one candidate over another. South Carolina ETV will broadcast the debate and will also have commentary on The Big Picture afterwards.

During an air show at the Beaufort Marine Base, one of the Blue Angels’ pilots crashed and was killed. Our prayers go out to the family of this brave and accomplished pilot.

According to The State newspaper, Republican candidate Horton is filing a protest with the Kershaw County Election Commission. Horton is filing his protest due to his belief that certain voters were not allowed to vote. A date and time has currently not been set for the protest.

According to the Florence Morning News, “archaeological work has unconvered a potential site of a Gen. Francis Marion militia camp in the Britton’s Neck area of Marion County.” The site is located on a tract of land that the SC Department of Natural Resources owns.

Going further down the rabbit hole, investors sue Charleston Southern University; the former employer of Al Parish. The investors are claiming that CSU is liable since Parish worked with his investments on campus.
CSU is currently only being sued by 5 of Parish’s investors. Investigators are stating that the case against Parish is incredibly intricate.

According to The Post and Courier, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has joined the investigation into securities fraud against CSU professor and economist Al Parish.
The FBI has opened a criminal inquiry on Parish. SLED and the US Attorney’s Office have also joined the investigation. The Post and Courier has also started a forum for readers [...]

The State paper has just reported that Starbucks Coffee Company will be opening a coffee roasting plant in Calhoun County. This will generate somewhere in the neighborhood of 160 jobs.
