According to several South Carolina news outlets, USC President Andrew Sorensen will be stepping down at the end of July in 2008.

Spartanburg newspaper, Spartanburg Herald-Journal, is reporting that Rick Beltram, Spartanburg County Republican Party Chairman is filing a complaint with the SC Ethics Commission regarding the, “use of public e-mails during Democrat Jim Rex’s recent campaign for state superintendent of education.”

The State newspaper is reporting that Jim Rex has assembled a transition team as he assumes the post of South Carolina Superintendent of Education. Heading his team will be former two term South Carolina Governor Dick Riley. Rex’s team will consist of bi-partisan advisors dedicated to helping South Carolina’s children.

The State Election Commission has certified the recounted results in the races for Superintendent of Education, Lt. Governor, and SC House Districts 29 and 115. Robert Barber, the Democratic candidate for Lt. Governor, has conceded to Bauer, but Republican candidate for Superintendent of Education Karen Floyd has not.
