Thank you for the interesting, informative and beautiful SC Blog.
My husband has worked at the SC Port of 14 years. I hear that we are getting ready experience a time of great change and uncertainty as never before experienced in the Port's History.

There are talks of lay offs and strict budgeting. For the sake of the people of Charleston and the entire State of South Carolina, I sincerely hope the merger "thingie" in Savannah goes through.

Susan,

Try visiting scvotes.org. This site can help you find everything you need. Also, try calling the Spartanburg County Election Commission. Their number is: 864-596-2549

That's a great question! The answer is no. This is why:

In South Carolina you do not have to register by party. In fact, you cannot register by party. When you register to vote in SC, you do not select a party - you merely register to vote. So, there is nothing in the Voter Registration database that indicates you are associated with a political party.

You may vote in either the Democratic or Republican Presidential Preference Primary. Although, you can only choose one of those primaries to vote in.

I hope that answers your question.

I registered to vote many years ago and have kept my card updated. I have heard that because I have voted independently and never signed on to one party that I can not vote in the primary elections. Is this true?

I agree! If we are stuck with this ugly plate, I wish we could eliminate the ugly orange color. I liked your idea of replacing the color orange with white so the plate would match our blue & white state flag.
